MONTEREY SELECT BOARD
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DECEMBER 6, 2004
The regular weekly meeting of the Monterey Select Board was opened at 8:30 a.m. with members Jonathan Sylbert (Chair), Michèle Miller, and Michael Storch all present.
· The Board met with Chief Gareth Backhaus to review Police Department items, as follows:
o Application of speed limits
o Crane accident on Mount Hunger Road
· Town Clerk Barbara Swann was present to discuss the following items:
o Wording of articles on the Warrant of the December 16 Special Town Meeting
o Door lock on the new Records Room
o Securing of Town records
· The Board met with Director of Operations Maynard Forbes to review Highway Department items, as follows:
o Bally Gally house
o Town records stored at Town Garage
o Security of Town records in the new Records Room
o Cost of winter road mix
o Insurance reimbursement for crane accident on Mount Hunger Road
· Building Commissioner Don Torrico met with the Board to discuss the following items:
o Zoning Bylaw changes
o Building Commissioner title
o Upcoming meeting with Zoning Board of Appeals
o Building violations
· The Board conferred again with Town Clerk Barbara Swann regarding the proper formatting and wording of articles for the Dec. 16 Special Town Meeting. The Board asked that it be provided with appropriate regulations from the Attorney General’s office prior to the preparation of articles. There was discussion of Warrant Article 6, the deletion of Zoning Bylaws Section VIII B, and the public hearing in that regard, scheduled for Dec. 13 at 10 a.m.
· The Board announced that the Department of Revenue has approved the tax rate for Fiscal Year 2005 at $6.58 per thousand.
· Highway and Treasury Warrants were signed. The clerk was given instructions regarding correspondence.
· The Minutes of November 29, 2004, were approved as written.
· It was unanimously voted that the meeting be adjourned (12:15 p.m.).
